Find An LGBTQ Drug & Alcohol Rehab Center
LGBTQIA+ people are more likely than others to self-medicate with alcohol or other drugs. They face unique barriers that can make them vulnerable, including high levels of anxiety and depression over not fitting in at work or school, as well as discrimination from employers due their sexual orientation/gender identity; limited access to healthcare and providers who objectify addiction instead caring for mental health issues.
The SAMHSA reported that people who identify as LGBTQ have almost double the risk for developing substance use disorders as compared to those who identify as straight.
